St. Katharine Drexel Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King

The St. Katharine of Drexel Chapter of the Order of the Daughters of the King was organized in 2020 and formally instituted in a service on July 25, 2021, presided over by the Rev. Jean Pearson Scott and Renee Haney, Diocesan President of the Order of the Daughters of the King.

Chapter President, Jan Rigsby, and the Chaplain of the Chapter, the Rev. Paige McKay, with Debbie Copeland, Sally Loden, and Heidi Rapstine were admitted to the Order on the same day during the 10:30am Holy Eucharist. St. Stephen's loves the Daughters of the King!

On Sunday, June 25, 2023 the two Daughters were admitted to the order in an installation service presided over by the Rev. Justin Gibson.  These members are Debbie Cummings and Elizabeth Jones.  In 2025 Martha Garcia and Lindsey Campagnia were installed.

What is the Order of the Daughters of the King? The Order's website states that: "The Order of the Daughters of the King is an order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal Church, churches in communion with it, or churches in the historic episcopate but not in communion with it. Our membership currently includes women in the Anglican, Episcopal, Lutheran (ELCA) and Roman Catholic churches. We are Christian women, both lay and ordained, who are strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life, and supported through the companionship of our sisters. We are all at different stages of our Christian journey—some have just begun and some have been on this path for a long time. But no matter where we are on our sacred journeys, our primary goal is the same: to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known to others.

The Anglican Tradition:

  • Recognizes episcopal (bishop's) oversight.

  • Believes that Holy Scripture contains all things necessary for salvation.

  • Acknowledges the gift of the Holy Spirit in Baptism, the real presence of our Lord in the Holy Eucharist, and worship according to The Book of Common Prayer (or the standard liturgies of Lutheran, Roman Catholic, or other Anglican churches that sponsor chapters).

  • Reaffirming the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service and evangelism. She receives support in this commitment from a worldwide community of like-minded women.

  • In solidarity with one another, all Daughters everywhere make the same promises upon their admission to The Order:

To obey the two Rules of The Order: the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.

To offer at all times loyal aid to our clergy and parish to spread Christ’s kingdom.

To wear faithfully the cross of The Order.

To work for the purposes of The Order as God may give us the opportunity." **
